Why do most FX charts, such as your Koyfin chart of the pound/dollar, begin in ~1973?
It is possible, Conor, you selected the time period. But that span of time is rather common for "long-term" FX charts. The answer, I believe, will tickle your intellectual curiosity.
You know, I thought about this in my head before searching, and I had figured that it was either the fact that some pairs are relatively new (e.g those including the Euro), or that this is simply as long as Koyfin (and other providers) have data for from their vendor.
The actual answer is a lot more interesting, thanks for helping me learn something new today! Seems obvious now :)
A question worth pondering.

Excellent as always.
Appreciate it David, thanks.

P.S. Swiss Franc for the win ;)
